Does Hunter hurt Biden?

The link between President Biden and his son Hunter Biden's affairs has been heavily scrutinized by the Media. Currently, Hunter Biden is on trial for  federal tax charges, and some media experts such as Bradford Betz from Fox News argue that Hunter Biden's case and association of criminality to President Biden is severe enough to potentially harm Biden's chances as president. Conversely, Josh Gerstein and Kyle Cheney present Hunter Biden's case as a political ploy designed to falsely harm him and his family.  News Articles: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/20/hunter-biden-legal-offensive-tax-prosecution-00142359 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-biden-lawyer-says-photo-his-phone-showed-sawdust-not-cocaine-prosecution-flat-out-wrong

Biden and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict

The stances and statements assumed by President Biden as it relate to the United States' support for Israel has been met with mixed responses by the Media. Within the article " Biden declares Israel and Ukraine support is vital for US security, will ask Congress for billions," author Chris Megerian from Fox News presents Biden's support for Israel as "vital for America’s national security." Megerian even goes as far to say that the United States' support for Israel is the country's "obligation" to promote democratic ideals overseas.       Mustafa Akyol  presents Biden's support in a different stating that Biden must "change course" (). If Biden does not facilitate some change in policy, Lee warns that he will reap the consequences and might alienate potential voters in the upcoming election. Trump on Trial

Just this past week, former President Donald Trump suffered a loss in his  civil fraud case, which has resulted in the ordering of him to pay a penalty of $355 million. The reaction of the media regarding the judge's ruling demonstrates just how different the media views Trump's prospects proceeding the ruling.        In the article "Trump Fraud Trial Penalty Will Exceed $450 Million" published by The New York Times, author Jonah E. Bromwich categorizes the ruling as just and deserving due to Trump's "complete lack of contrition and remorse" (Bromwich 2024). Bromwich also has very little hope that Trump will find a way to mitigate the massive penalties handed to him.     Rather than presenting the ruling as fair and deserving, Fox News'   Bradford Betz categorizes the ruling as an unjust political tactic designed to stain Trump and break him before the 2024 election. Betz even goes as far as to call the ruling "obscene" (...

RFK Jr. and Covid

Throughout the election cycle, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has faced a diversity of different responses regarding his statements questioning the  efficacy of the Covid 19 vaccine. The media itself has also responded to his statements in varying degrees, with NEWSMAX and CNN demonstrating just how different the media frames RFK Jr. and his statements.     In the article " RFK Jr. repeats unfounded Covid-19 claims while defending himself from antisemitism accusations" published by CNN, Liz Brown-Kaiser present RFK Jr.'s questioning of the Covid 19 as misinformation that follows his historical pattern of deplorable speculation ( Brown-Kaiser 2023 ). The article also includes words to characterize RFK Jr. such as "reprehensible and insensitive" as a means to condemn RFK Jr.      Converse to the CNN article, NEWSMAX's Ali S wenson categorizes RFK Jr.'s claims in a different way. Swenson specifically refers t...

2020 election repeated?

Although the primary choice of both the Democratic party and Republican party are virtually set in stone, there are still many candidates who are still in the race with the hopes of having their names on the ballot. On the Republican side, Nikki Haley has yet to concede her bid for the presidency and is still actively trying to obtain the Republican nomination. Former Democratic candidate and now independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. similarly is fighting an uphill battle, and the media presents these underdogs in a different light.      Despite trailing Trump's massive lead as the hopeful Republican nominee in the 2024 election, Jazmine Ulloa contends that "Nikki Haley isn’t going anywhere" (Ulloa 2024). Haley has supposedly been behind closed doors preaching the message to her wealthy donors that she will not back down from Trump and still has a viable shot as the Republican nominee. According to Ulloa, many of the politicians who ...

Too old for Washington?

With the 2024 election occurring in the coming months, much has been covered by the media as it relates to the age of the presidential candidates. President Biden has particularly become increasingly more scrutinized because of his age, and the presentation of his age by different media outlets reveals just how different media outlets perceive his age as a true concern.      In the article "Biden's Age an Issue Making Him Too Old to Serve" published by NEWSMAX, a news outlet that is perceived to be more conservative, Jake Matthews presents Biden's age as a problem that Americans should be concerned with. Throughout the article, Mathews purposefully describes Biden as an "81-year-old geriatric," and even refers to Biden's age and mental capacity as "extremely concerning" in order to perpetuate the notion that Biden is unfit to serve as a viable president in the 2024 election (Mathews 2024).      Converse to Math...
